本日（8月24日）から9月5日まで、東京2020パラリンピックが開催されます。
カンボジア王国からは、選手１名が出場する予定です。
Van Vun選手は、カンボジア・カンダール州出身です。3歳の時に患ったポリオのせいで、後遺症が残ったそうです。Van Vun選手は、2011年に車いす陸上競技を始めて以来、東南アジアパラ競技大会（ASEAN Para Games）や、2016年のリオ・パラリンピックにもカンボジア王国の代表として出場されています。
Van Vun選手のご健闘をお祈りしています！皆さんもご声援をよろしくお願いいたします！！

8月12日、カンボジア初のピザハットが、プノンペン市のロシアンマーケット近くにオープンしました！
「え！、カンボジアでピザを食べる人はたくさんいるの？」と思われた皆さん！そうなんです、近年カンボジアではピザを食べる人口が増えてきている（働く若者の可処分所得の増加に伴い、外食の機会が増えてきている）ようです。このため、ピザハットはこの2－3年のうちに30店の新店舗の開店を予定しています。
現在カンボジアでは、タイ最大のピザチェーン店「ザ・ピザ・カンパニー」が2005年の7月のオープン以来人気を博しており、他にもアメリカの「ドミノピザ」（2014年12月にオープン）、シンガポールの「ペッツォピザ」（2018年5月にオープン）、フィリピンの「イェローカブピザ」（2020年1月にオープン）、アメリカの「パパジョーンズ」（2021年3月にオープン）、日本とベトナムの「ピザ 4P’s」（2021年7月にオープン）等が続々と開店しています。これだけたくさんの選択肢があると、どこのピザにするか、迷ってしまいますね！
2020年の統計によると、日本では『ドミノピザ』が一番人気で、2位は『ピザーラ』、3位は『ピザハット』という結果でした。ドミノピザやピザハットのような世界的に人気のあるチェーン店は、現地の食材を使ったレシピをメニューに加えるなど、特色のあるセールスを展開しています。日本では「照りマヨチキンピザ」や、「明太子ピザ」など、日本ならではのメニューがたくさんありますが、カンボジアではどんな地元の味のピザが開発されるのか、とても興味が湧きますね！

On August 12th, the first Pizza Hut in Cambodia opened near the Russian Market. As pizza is slowly becoming more popular in Cambodia, Pizza Hut plans to gain a bigger slice of the Pizza market by opening another 30 locations over the next couple of years. As disposable income in Cambodia has been rapidly increasing, more people have been looking for places to eat outside.
Currently, The Pizza Company, a Thailand-based pizza franchise that first opened in Cambodia in July 2005 is one of the leading pizza franchises in Cambodia. Others include US-based Domino’s Pizza (opened in December 2014), Singapore-based Pezzo Pizza (opened in May 2018), Philippines-based Yellow Cab Pizza (first opened January 2020), US-based Papa John’s Pizza (opened in March 2021), and Japanese and Vietnam based Pizza 4P’s (opened in July 2021). Which pizza franchise would you like to order from?
Here in Japan, Domino’s Pizza is the most popular pizza brand, according to a market research done in 2020. Second and third being Pizza-La and Pizza Hut respectively. International food chain stores usually add local-flavoured products to their menu. In Japan, we have Teriyaki Chicken with Mayo-flavoured pizza and Marinated Pollock Roe pizza, but what about Cambodia? 今回、在関西カンボジア留学生協会の会長 ティアン・チャンソチアト様が紹介されたのは、カンボジアの定番の朝ご飯「ボボー・ソー」という料理です。
「ボボー・ソー」は、調理が簡単で、しかも体に優しいお粥なので、私と同じように「ボボー・ソー」が食べたくなった方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか。
残念ながら関西でカンボジア料理が食べられるお店はありませんので、自由に旅行が楽しめるようになりましたら、ぜひカンボジア現地で召し上がってみて下さいね！

7月30日（金）、NPO法人国際芸術家センター（IAC）から2名様が来館され、当館の山田名誉領事が取材を受けました。その時のインタビュー記事が、IACのホームページに掲載されております！

前回山田名誉領事がIACの取材を受けたのは、2019年5月でした。今回は当館の開館20周年を記念して、再び取材をしていただけることになりました。
約1時間のインタビューで、山田名誉領事は、カンボディア名誉領事館の過去・現在・未来について色々とお話させていただきました。前回も取材に来て下さったインタビュアーさんは、今回も山田名誉領事から巧みに珠玉のエピソードを引き出して下さいました。プロのテクニックはすごい！とても勉強になりました！！

本日８月10日（火）は「世界ライオンの日（World Lion Day）」です。この啓発デーの創設者はNetflixのドキュメンタリー「タイガーキング」（Tiger King）に出ている 「ビッグキャットレスキュー」（Big Cat Rescue)という動物保護団体です。この啓発デーは、ライオンの保護の大切さを多くの人に知ってもらうために創設されました。そこで、今日はライオンについて、詳しく学んでいきましょう！
ペットといえば、一般的に犬や猫を思い浮かべる人が多いかもしれませんが、カンボジアではなんと、ライオンをペットとして飼っている男性がいるようです！まさに、巨大なネコちゃん！
今年の4月に、ペットとして飼育されているライオンがTikTokビデオに登場した後、カンボジアの警察が調査を始めました。そして６月27日に、NGOのワイルドライフ・アライアンス（Wildlife Alliance）の協力のもと、警察は飼い主のプノンペンにあるヴィラからライオンを押収しました。また、ライオンの飼い主は、住宅で違法に野生生物を飼育したという理由で、罰金も課せられました。
しかしその後、カンボジアのソーシャルメディアなどで、多くの人々からライオンを飼い主に返すべきだという声が上がったため、カンボジのフン・セン首相がこの件に介入し、正しい環境でライオンを飼育することを条件に、ライオンを飼い主の元へ戻すことに同意しました。また、既に支払われた罰金も、飼い主へ返される予定です。
この飼い主のライオンに対する愛情や気配りはとても素晴らしいことですが、ライオンは本来野生で暮らす動物ですので、ペットとして飼育するべきではないでしょう。

Today, 10th August (Tue.) is World Lion Day. This awareness day was founded by Big Cat Rescue, an exotic feline sanctuary known for being on the Netflix documentary series Tiger King. World Lion Day celebrates and brings awareness to the importance of the conservation of Lions. So let’s increase our awareness by learning more about lions today!
Usually, when we hear “pets” we imagine dogs or cats. However, a man living in Cambodia actually has a lion as a pet! That’s really a giant cat for a pet!
After the owner’s pet lion had appeared on Tiktok videos in April this year, the Cambodian police authorities started investigations. Then on June 27, with the help of NGO Wildlife Alliance, the pet lion was confiscated from its owner at his villa in Phnom Penh. The owner was also fined by the Cambodian police for the illegal keeping of lions in private homes.
However, after a series of social media posts that appealed for the lion to be returned to its owner got viral, Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen intervened and agreed to the proposal under the condition that the lion is well contained. The fine paid will be returned to the owner as well.
It is a wonderful thing to witness the love and care that the owner has for his pet lion. However, we certainly do not recommend lions as pets, for they are exotic animals and born to live in the wild.

本日８月6日（金）は「世界ビールデー（International Beer Day）」です。世界ビールデーは、ビール産業に関わる人々に感謝する日です。2007年以降、日本とカンボジアを含めた８０カ国で、毎年８月の第一金曜日に友達や家族が集まってビールを飲んでお祝いしています。なんだか楽しそうですね！
カンボジアには数多くのビールブランドあります。その中でもとりわけ地元の人や観光客に人気なのが、「アンコールビール（Angkor Beer) 」と「カンボジアビール (Cambodia Beer)」です。どちらのブランドのビールもアルコール度数が５％で、値段は87円程度となっています。
Today, 6th August (Fri.) is International Beer Day. Founded in 2007, International Beer Day celebrates the people who brew or serve beer on the first Friday of August by gathering with family and friends to drink beer. Sounds like fun doesn’t it!?
International Beer Day is celebrated in Cambodia as well. Cambodia is known for its variety in beer brands, amongst the most popular is “Angkor Beer” along with “Cambodia Beer”. Both brands have 5% ABV and cost roughly $0.8 (~\87).

皆さん、以前「カンボジアビール」のプルタブの裏にくじが付いていたことをご存知ですか？ビールを飲んだらビールが当たるかも！景品は、ビールをもう一缶から車のポルシェマカンまで、幅広くありました。ポルシェの当選者はテレビで生放送され、さらなるビールの売り上げに貢献しました。ビールの宣伝になるいいアイデアですね！
“Cambodia Beer” used to have a lottery on their ring pull tabs! You could win a free beer by drinking beer! The prizes ranged from a free drink to a Porsche Macan. The winner of the Porsche Macan was given his prize on live TV, driving their sales up even more! What a great idea!
