大阪ガス「朝ごはん世界紀行-カンボジア‐」取材に協力させていただきましたFeature of Cambodia’s Breakfast in “Breakfast Around The World Journal” by Osaka Gas

2021年６月24日（火）、当館において、大阪ガス（株）企画「朝ごはん世界紀行」の取材が行われました。
「朝ごはん世界紀行」は、毎月関西在住の外国人の方々にインタビューし、自国の朝食文化やオススメ朝ごはんを紹介してもらうという企画です。昨年の9月から始まり、今まで台湾やインド、ロシアなどの国々の朝ごはんが紹介されています。現在コロナ禍で海外へ旅行に行けないため、この企画を通じて、日本の皆様にさらに外国のことを知ってもらうことが目的だそうです。
そして、今回はなんと！カンボジアの朝ごはんを紹介できるチャンスが巡ってきました！
カンボジアの朝ごはんに詳しい、在関西カンボジア留学生協会の会長、ティアン・チャンソチアト様に取材を受けていただきました。カンボジアの雰囲気を少しでも味わっていただくため、当館を取材場所としていただきました！
取材は、ティアン会長がインタビュアーの質問に答えるスタイルで進みました。質問は多岐にわたり、カンボジアの朝ごはんや食文化から、会長ご自身の来日のきっかけなどについても話されました。説明の補足に当館の巨大なカンボジア地図やガイドブックが活躍いたしました。
取材記事は、8月中旬以降に大阪ガスのホームページ（https://services.osakagas.co.jp/portalc/contents-2/pc/asagohan/index.html）に掲載される予定です。どのようなカンボジアの朝ごはんが紹介されるのか、乞うご期待です！
取材後、せっかくの機会でしたので、ティアン会長にお時間をいただき、在関西カンボジア留学生協会の皆様の近況や活動、カンボジアのこと等を伺いました。当館は、今後もさらに在関西カンボジア留学生協会との連携を深め、協力関係の発展に尽力していきたいと思っております。
On Tuesday, 24 June 2021, our Honorary Consulate facilitated the “Breakfast Around The World Journal” interview by Osaka Gas Japan.
“Breakfast Around The World Journal” is a project by Osaka Gas Japan, in which every month, foreigners living in the Kansai area, are being interviewed to introduce about their country’s signature breakfast item and breakfast culture. The project first started in September last year, and it has already featured breakfast from countries like Taiwan, India, Russia and so on. As overseas travel remains restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, through this project it hopes to allow people in Japan to understand more about the culture of other countries.
And this time, the chance has come for Cambodia’s breakfast to be featured!
For the interview, we specially invited the director of the Khmer Student Association in Kansai (KSAK), Mr. Tieng Chansocheat, to share about Cambodia’s breakfast. Mr. Tieng is a native Cambodian living in Osaka and knows better about Cambodian food than anyone of us. We have also specifically requested for the interview to be held at our Honorary Consulate office, to bask in the “Cambodia” atmosphere more.
The interview was done in a “question-and-answer” style, and Mr. Tieng shared not just about Cambodian breakfast and culture, but also on his reason for coming to Japan and life living in Osaka. To provide a clearer explanation, the map of Cambodia and guide book displayed at our office had also came in handy.
The article on Cambodian breakfast will be featured on Osaka Gas Japan’s homepage from mid-August (https://services.osakagas.co.jp/portalc/contents-2/pc/asagohan/index.html). To find out what kind of breakfast is eaten in Cambodia, be sure to check it out!
After the interview, we also took the opportunity to have a quick chit-chat session with Mr. Tieng to find out about the well-being of the Cambodian students in Kansai area, the association’s activities, and also some information about Cambodia. We hope to further deepen this close working relationship between our Honorary Consulate and KSAK, and to cooperate even more together in the near future.
